Uncle Lionel Batiste, ( no relation to Jon Batiste) was a feature of the music culture for many decades in the Quarter. At this age here he mostly kept time with the cymbal and ring. He sang on a single, "I'll Fly Away" that is still played on the local radio station, WWOZ 90.7 FM. He inspired many musicians over the years.
