There two of these barns in the area. They were built by an old German a long time ago. I was on the farm a long time until I saw a way to paint it. 
Impressionism was the last great school of realism.  Because it is based in verifiable visual truths it will continue to renew itself in artists of every generation.
As Impressionists in France were seeing relationships as the core of a new way to see and paint, the Existentialist philosophers were writing about the relationship of man to the environment.  Musicians had always known that notes change in relationship with various other notes.  The physicists were starting to see the world as relationships instead of absolute quantities.  The Theory of Relativity ushered in the age of relationships in the history of Man.  Advancements in philosophy art and physics were made about relationships.  The modern era is defined by the acceptance of relationships and of a changing dynamic instead of static and mundane absolutes.  A color has no absolute value to the mind as it does with a spectroscope or other device.
