14x20  Pastel on homemade pumiced rag board.

A few days into the stay in the Big Horn I decided to paint the lake at sunset. I watched it for several days. It always grew more dramatic he closer to sunset. There was a moment that was best. The flow of the stream as it converged with the lake spoke to me. The quiet dignity of the lake and the unruly turbulent  stream reminded my of a child growing into an adult. They were united by the color harmonies of the light. I later did a larger studio pastel that mimics the colors of the study.
